As a QC Coating Inspector near me in the Al-Naseem area, you will be responsible for overseeing all coating-related activities on project sites, ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications. Your expertise will directly contribute to the prevention of corrosion, the maintenance of structural integrity, and the overall safety and efficiency of our operations. This position offers a competitive salary range of 15-20 LPA, reflecting the critical nature of the role and the level of expertise required.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
The QC Coating Inspector-I will be entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities that are essential to maintaining the highest standards of quality in our projects. Your primary duties will include:
- Perform thorough inspections of surface preparation activities, including abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, and solvent cleaning, to ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards such as SSPC and NACE.
- Monitor and inspect the application of protective coatings, including paints, epoxies, and other corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring proper mixing, application techniques, and environmental conditions are maintained.
- Conduct tests for coating thickness (DFT), adhesion, humidity, and temperature to verify compliance with technical data sheets and project requirements.
- Maintain detailed and accurate inspection records, reports, and documentation, including daily logs, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and final inspection certificates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address and resolve any quality issues related to coating processes, providing technical guidance and recommendations.
- Ensure all coating activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, promoting a culture of safety and compliance on site.
- Review and approve coating procedures, method statements, and quality control plans prior to the commencement of work.
- Perform final inspections and provide approval for coating systems before handover, ensuring all work meets the required quality standards.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and standards in coating inspection and corrosion control.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be considered for the QC Coating Inspector-I position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education & Certification
- Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Certification from recognized bodies such as NACE (NACE Certified Coatings Inspector Level 2 or 3), SSPC (PCI), or BGAS is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP, AWS) or related fields will be considered an advantage.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a Coating Inspector in the Oil & Gas industry, with a proven track record in major projects.
- In-depth knowledge of QA/QC standards and international codes such as ISO 8501, ISO 12944, NACE SP0188, and SSPC standards.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including DFT gauges, adhesion testers, hygrometers, and surface profile comparators.
- Strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, coating chemistry, and material compatibility.
- Excellent documentation and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and data sheets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
