Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a QC E & I Inspector-I at Hamdan Global, you will be the cornerstone of our project quality assurance, ensuring all electrical and instrumentation work meets the highest international standards and project specifications. Your expertise will be critical to our operational success and safety record.
Electrical Systems Inspection
- Perform rigorous incoming quality control (IQC) inspections on all electrical materials, components, and equipment, including cables, transformers, switchgear, motors, and lighting systems.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance and inspections during the installation of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, data sheets, and method statements.
- Verify the installation of cable trays, conduits, and wiring, checking for proper grounding, bonding, and mechanical protection.
- Witness and document all electrical testing procedures, including megger tests, continuity tests, high-potential (hipot) tests, and circuit breaker timing tests.
- Ensure all hazardous area installations comply with relevant IECEx/ATEX standards for explosive atmospheres.
Instrumentation & Control Systems Oversight
- Inspect the installation, calibration, and loop checking of various field instruments such as pressure transmitters, temperature elements, flow meters, level gauges, and control valves.
- Review calibration certificates for accuracy and compliance with specified ranges and tolerances.
- Oversee the installation of instrument tubing and junction boxes, ensuring adherence to loop diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Witness functional tests of control systems, emergency shutdown (ESD) systems, and fire and gas (F&G) systems to validate design integrity.
- Maintain detailed records of all inspection activities using Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection Reports (IRs).
Quality Documentation & Compliance
- Generate and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) when defects are identified, tracking them through to resolution and closure.
- Liaise directly with clients, third-party vendors, and certification authorities to facilitate necessary inspections and approvals.
- Ensure all site activities are performed in strict compliance with company and international QA/QC standards, as well as all applicable health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and contractors on quality requirements and best practices.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits, providing evidence and documentation as required.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this challenging QC E & I Inspector-I role within the Oil & Gas industry, you must meet the following criteria:
Essential Education & Certification
- A Graduation or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Certified and accredited by a recognized international certification body (e.g., CSWIP, BGAS, API, NACE) is highly advantageous.
- Formal training and certification in relevant QA/QC standards and procedures.
- Valid certifications in workplace safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are preferred.
Mandatory Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 years of proven experience as a QC Inspector specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation systems, specifically within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or power generation industries.
- In-depth, hands-on knowledge of international codes and standards including but not limited to: IEC, ISA, IEEE, NEC (NFPA 70), API, ASME, and ANSI.
- Extensive practical experience with inspection and testing procedures for both high and low-voltage electrical systems and complex instrumentation loops.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
