Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical to join our dynamic team in Muscat, Oman. Job Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing costs and contracts for mechanical engineering projects in the oil and gas sector. Your primary duties will include:

  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for mechanical projects.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed mechanical works.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contract terms with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Performing quantity take-offs and preparing bills of quantities (BOQ) for mechanical installations.
  • Monitoring project costs and ensuring adherence to budget constraints.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Assessing and valuing variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Preparing detailed reports on project financials for stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

Education:

  • Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Certification in Quantity Surveying (RICS or equivalent) is preferred.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, specializing in mechanical systems.
  • Proven experience in the Oil & Gas Construction industry.
  • Hands-on experience with cost estimation, contract management, and procurement.
  • Familiarity with mechanical installations (piping, HVAC, instrumentation, etc.).

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
  • Understanding of FIDIC and other standard contract forms.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
