Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
As a Rigging Supervisor, you will be entrusted with the complete oversight of all rigging and lifting activities on site. Your primary mandate is to ensure these operations are executed flawlessly, without incident, and in strict adherence to project specifications and international safety standards.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of riggers and rigging personnel, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
- Develop comprehensive lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements for all simple and complex lifts, including critical lifts.
- Conduct thorough daily toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensuring all crew members are aware of their tasks and associated hazards.
- Perform meticulous inspections of all rigging gear, equipment, and cranes to ensure they are certified, in optimal condition, and suitable for the intended operation.
- Liaise and coordinate seamlessly with other construction supervisors, project engineers, and client representatives to align rigging activities with the overall project schedule.
- Ensure strict compliance with all company HSE policies, procedures, and legal regulations, taking immediate corrective action for any unsafe acts or conditions.
- Manage the mobilization and demobilization of rigging equipment to and from the site.
- Maintain accurate and timely daily reports, logs, and documentation related to rigging operations, equipment checks, and crew attendance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during lifting operations, making sound decisions under pressure.
- Oversee the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy equipment, modules, and structures, which are central to oilfield construction projects.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this senior rigging supervisor role within the demanding oil and gas industry, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
Education & Certification
- A Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a directly related field is required.
- Mandatory possession of valid rigging and lifting competency certifications (e.g., OPITO, LOLER, or equivalent internationally recognized certificates).
- Certification in Banksman Slinger, Crane Operations, or Lift Planning is highly advantageous.
- A valid offshore survival certificate (e.g., BOSIET) is required for offshore positions.
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in rigging and construction, with a significant portion spent specifically in the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrable experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity, managing teams on large-scale industrial projects.
- Expert practical knowledge of all types of rigging equipment, wire ropes, slings, shackles, and below-the-hook devices.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, and lift plans.
- Exceptional understanding of load dynamics, center of gravity, and rigging calculations.
- Strong, hands-on experience with both onshore and offshore construction environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
