Jerry Varghese, a leader in global talent acquisition, is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Rotating Supervisor for a prestigious client in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical industry based in Doha, Qatar. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring a minimum of 10+ years of specialized supervision experience in rotating equipment within demanding industrial environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing critical mechanical operations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency for our client's assets. This role is based in the vibrant Souq Waqif neighborhood of Ad Dawhah (Doha), offering a competitive salary package of 15-20 LPA for the right mechanical engineering professional.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a Rotating Equipment Supervisor, your primary function will be to lead a team of technicians and ensure the seamless operation and maintenance of all rotating machinery. Your day-to-day duties will encompass a wide range of critical supervisory and technical tasks.
Supervision & Team Leadership
- Provide direct daily supervision, guidance, and leadership to a multidisciplinary team of mechanical technicians and fitters.
- Plan, assign, and prioritize daily maintenance and repair work orders to maximize crew productivity and meet project deadlines.
- Conduct pre-job and toolbox meetings to ensure all team members understand tasks, associated risks, and safety protocols.
- Perform regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and mentor junior team members to foster skill development.
- Enforce strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and international standards across all field operations.
Maintenance & Operational Excellence
- Oversee the preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all rotating equipment, including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, turbines, motors, generators, and gearboxes.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex mechanical issues, performing root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence and improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with the planning department to ensure all resources, including manpower, tools, and spare parts, are available for scheduled maintenance activities.
- Supervise critical equipment overhauls, installations, and alignment procedures, ensuring precision and quality workmanship.
- Review and approve maintenance reports, work history, and equipment records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Health, Safety, & Environment (HSE)
- Champion a culture of safety excellence by rigorously enforcing all HSE guidelines and conducting regular safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed under the correct permits to work (PTW) and that all isolation and lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed without exception.
- Investigate and report any incidents, near-misses, or equipment failures, implementing effective corrective actions promptly.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this senior-level Rotating Supervisor position near you in Doha, candidates must meet the following mandatory criteria:
Education & Certification
- A minimum of a Graduation or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Relevant professional certifications in machinery maintenance, vibration analysis, or alignment (e.g., ISO Category II Vibration Analyst, MLT I/II) are highly desirable.
- Certification in safety training (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is a significant advantage.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- A proven track record of 10+ years of hands-on experience in a rotating equipment supervision role, specifically within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Refining industries.
- Extensive technical knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of rotating machinery, including API-specific pumps and compressors.
- Demonstrable experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and the use of CMMS systems like SAP or Maximo.
- Strong background in implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and practices.
- In-depth understanding of international codes and standards (API, ANSI, ASME, ISO) pertaining to rotating equipment.
