Job Overview

Seagull International LLP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sandblaster to join our maintenance team for a major client in the Oil & Gas sector. This is a full-time position based in Al-Naseem, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, offering a competitive salary package of 5-8 LPA for the right candidate. The ideal professional will have 5-10 years of hands-on experience specializing in abrasive blasting for corrosion control and surface preparation. If you have a strong background in industrial maintenance and a commitment to the highest safety standards, we encourage you to apply for this critical role.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Sandblaster in the demanding Oil & Gas environment, your primary duty will be to prepare metal surfaces for coating and treatment to prevent corrosion and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure. Your day-to-day tasks will require precision, a strong attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to safety protocols.

  • Perform high-quality abrasive blasting (e.g., sandblasting, grit blasting, shot blasting) on various metal surfaces, pipes, vessels, and structural steel to specified standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC).
  • Execute surface preparation techniques to achieve the required profile and cleanliness for the effective application of protective coatings and linings.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of blasting equipment, including pots, nozzles, hoses, and compressors, ensuring they are in safe working order.
  • Rigorously adhere to all company and client-specific health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to create a zero-incident work environment.
  • Work closely with coating inspectors and other maintenance personnel to ensure all prepared surfaces meet project specifications and quality assurance standards.
  • Effectively contain and manage blasting waste and abrasives in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Interpret project specifications and technical drawings to determine the correct blasting abrasive, pressure, and technique for each task.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on all equipment and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the blasting zone and associated facilities.
  • Wear and maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including supplied-air respirators, blast helmets, protective suits, and gloves.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this Sandblaster role, you must possess a combination of formal qualifications, proven experience, and a deep understanding of industrial surface treatment processes.

Education & Certification

  • An ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certification in a relevant trade (Fitter, Welder, Surface Treatment) is mandatory.
  • Certification in abrasive blasting from a recognized institution (e.g., NACE, SSPC) is a significant advantage.
  • Valid certifications in basic safety training (e.g., OSHA, IOSH, NEBOSH) and confined space entry are highly desirable.

Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of proven professional experience as a Sandblaster, specifically within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Extensive, hands-on expertise in abrasive blasting for corrosion control and surface preparation.
  • In-depth knowledge of different abrasive media (e.g., copper slag, garnet, steel grit) and their appropriate applications.
  • Demonstrable ability to meet strict surface preparation profiles and cleanliness standards (e.g., White Metal, Near-White Metal, Commercial Blast).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and performing basic maintenance on blasting and compression equipment.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to work long hours in a demanding environment, often in extreme weather conditions, while wearing cumbersome PPE.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as a cohesive part of a larger maintenance team.

Personal Attributes

  • An uncompromising commitment to workplace safety for oneself and fellow team members.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a results-driven mindset to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project demands and timelines.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong professional work ethic.
