Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer (Mechanical) to join our dynamic team in Muscat, Oman. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in planning and project management within the Oil & Gas Construction industry. This role offers a competitive salary range of 21-28 LPA and requires strong analytical, organizational, and technical planning skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Planning Engineer (Mechanical), you will be responsible for:
- Developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules using industry-standard tools like Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Coordinating with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure timely project execution.
- Performing critical path analysis and identifying potential delays.
- Preparing detailed progress reports and presenting them to stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Conducting risk assessments and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting procurement and resource allocation activities.
- Reviewing design documents and contractual agreements for planning feasibility.
- Mentoring junior planning engineers and providing technical guidance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Education: Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 5-10 years in planning and scheduling within the Oil & Gas Construction sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other planning software.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze project data and optimize schedules.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading planning teams.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to identify potential risks and deviations early.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as PMBOK, ISO 9001, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will be an advantage:
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP).
- Experience working on EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
- Knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations in the Oil & Gas industry.
Job Location & Work Environment
This is an on-site position based in Muscat, Oman. The role involves:
- Working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Occasional site visits to monitor project progress.
- Adhering to company policies and industry safety standards.
