Key Responsibilities
As a Shuttering Carpenter, your primary duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine carpentry requirements
- Constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and other materials
- Building and installing formwork (shuttering) for concrete structures according to specifications
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials to create formwork systems
- Ensuring all formwork is properly aligned, leveled, and braced for concrete pouring
- Inspecting and maintaining formwork to ensure structural integrity and safety
- Removing formwork after concrete has cured without damaging the structure
- Operating and maintaining carpentry tools and equipment
- Following all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Collaborating with other construction professionals to ensure project timelines are met
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this Shuttering Carpenter position should possess:
- 3-5 years of professional experience in shuttering carpentry and formwork installation
- ITI certification in Carpentry or related field
- Expert knowledge of various formwork systems and materials
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations
- Physical stamina and ability to work in challenging construction environments
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Experience with power tools and carpentry equipment
- Good communication skills (English language proficiency preferred)
Work Environment
This position requires working in various construction sites across Abu Dhabi. The work environment includes:
- Outdoor work in different weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, and construction materials
- Physical labor including standing, climbing, lifting, and bending for extended periods
- Use of personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, etc.)
- Standard construction site hours with possible overtime as needed
