You will be responsible for overseeing all on-site activities related to the installation, repair, and inspection of refractory linings, fireproofing materials, and protective coatings, which are essential for the integrity and longevity of industrial equipment and structures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

As our Refractory Supervisor, your day-to-day activities will be diverse and critical to our operational integrity. You will be the on-site expert, ensuring all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

Operational Supervision and Management

  • Directly supervise and coordinate the daily activities of refractory, fireproofing, and coating crews on the project site.
  • Plan and assign work duties, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Read and interpret project specifications, technical drawings, and blueprints to ensure accurate application of materials.
  • Oversee the mixing, installation, curing, and testing of refractory concretes, castables, insulating materials, and protective coatings.
  • Monitor the application of fireproofing materials to structural steel and other surfaces as per industry standards and client requirements.

Quality Control and Assurance

  • Conduct thorough inspections of surface preparation, material application, and finished work to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM).
  • Implement and enforce strict quality control procedures, documenting all inspections and tests performed.
  • Identify and troubleshoot any issues related to material performance or application techniques, providing immediate corrective action.
  • Ensure all materials received on site meet the required specifications and are stored and handled correctly to prevent damage or degradation.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance

  • Champion a culture of safety-first on the job site. Enforce all company HSE policies, procedures, and protocols without exception.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and safety meetings, ensuring all crew members are aware of potential hazards and safe work practices.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that all tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, complying with all environmental regulations for waste disposal.

Team Leadership and Client Relations

  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to crew members, fostering a productive and skilled workforce.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and other contractors on site regarding refractory, fireproofing, and coating work.
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports, timesheets, and other necessary documentation to the project manager.
  • Coordinate with other trade supervisors to ensure seamless integration of work schedules and project progress.
