Tanker Driver Responsibilities & Duties
Our Transport/Logistics department relies on Tanker Drivers to execute a complex set of operational tasks with precision and care. The following core responsibilities define this essential role within our organization:
- Safely operate and maneuver a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), specifically a bulk tanker truck, through various routes including urban areas, highways, and industrial sites.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, and emergency equipment, completing all required documentation.
- Load and unload liquid cargo (petroleum, chemicals, gases) following strict company and industry-specific procedures to prevent contamination, spillage, or dangerous reactions.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper logs of driving hours, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and delivery details in compliance with UAE transportation regulations.
- Plan efficient delivery routes using GPS and mapping software while adapting to real-time traffic conditions, road closures, and weather advisories.
- Execute all necessary paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and vehicle inspection reports, ensuring complete accuracy.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response protocols.
- Coordinate seamlessly with dispatchers, logistics planners, and customer representatives to ensure on-time deliveries and resolve any issues that arise.
- Conduct basic vehicle maintenance and minor roadside repairs, reporting any major mechanical issues to the fleet management team immediately.

Tanker Driver Qualifications & Requirements
This specialized driving role demands a unique combination of formal qualifications, practical skills, and proven experience. Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:
Mandatory Qualifications
- A valid UAE heavy vehicle driving license (HTV/HGV) with a tanker endorsement is absolutely essential.
- A Doctorate degree is required as per company policy for this senior operational role.
- Certification in the safe transportation of dangerous goods (ADN, IMDG, or equivalent).
- A clean and verifiable driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents.
Experience & Skills
