Key Responsibilities & Duties
As a Column & Vessel Technician in our Riyadh operations, you will be entrusted with a critical role in ensuring the integrity and optimal performance of pressure vessels, distillation columns, and separation vessels. Your daily tasks will be pivotal to the plant's operational efficiency and safety compliance.
- Perform meticulous inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on columns, reactors, separators, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
- Execute detailed internal and external examinations of vessels to identify signs of corrosion, erosion, cracking, or other defects in accordance with API and ASME standards.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, including but not limited to, replacement of internal trays, distributors, demisters, and baffles.
- Assist in the planning and execution of shutdown and turnaround activities, ensuring all column and vessel work is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Read and interpret P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), isometric drawings, and vessel fabrication drawings to guide maintenance and repair work.
- Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and collaborate with inspection teams to assess vessel conditions and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to stringent company safety policies, procedures, and international occupational health and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and equipment history logs.
- Troubleshoot operational issues related to column and vessel performance, such as poor separation efficiency, pressure drops, and leaks.
- Collaborate closely with process engineers, operations personnel, and other maintenance technicians to ensure seamless plant functionality.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this technically demanding role, the candidate must meet the following criteria and possess the necessary qualifications to perform high-pressure vessel maintenance and column repair work.
Education & Certification
- A Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Relevant certifications in welding, NDT (e.g., UT, MT, PT, RT), pressure vessel inspection, or API certification would be a significant advantage.
- Certification in occupational safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable for working safely in an oil and gas environment.
Experience & Technical Skills
- A minimum of 5-10 Years of proven hands-on experience in column/vessel maintenance within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or refining industry.
- Demonstrable expertise in the disassembly, repair, reassembly, and hydro-testing of large-scale process columns and pressure vessels.
- Strong practical knowledge of international codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, API 510, API 570, and API 653.
- Proficiency in using specialized tools, rigging equipment, and calibration instruments specific to vessel maintenance.
- Experience with isolation procedures (Lockout-Tagout) and working in permit-required confined spaces.
