Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Execute precision flange torquing operations using hydraulic torque wrenches and tensioning equipment
• Perform bolt tensioning and torquing calculations according to engineering specifications and industry standards
• Conduct thorough inspections of flange assemblies, gaskets, and bolting components before and after torquing procedures
• Maintain accurate documentation of all torquing activities, including torque values, sequences, and equipment calibration records
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and maintenance teams to develop optimal torquing strategies for various flange configurations
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to flange leaks, bolt stretching, and improper torque application
• Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including proper isolation procedures and personal protective equipment requirements
• Calibrate and maintain torquing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in all operations
• Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and assist in training programs for proper torquing techniques
• Participate in planning meetings to coordinate torquing activities with overall maintenance schedules and project timelines

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Experience

• 5-10 years of demonstrated experience as a Torquing Technician in the Oil & Gas industry or related heavy industrial settings
• Proven expertise in flange torquing techniques, including experience with various flange types and pressure ratings
• Comprehensive knowledge of bolting standards, including ASME, ANSI, and API specifications
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic torque wrenches, bolt tensioners, and other precision torquing equipment
• Familiarity with torque-to-yield principles and elongation measurement techniques

Education & Certification

• Diploma or Graduation in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• Certification in flange management, bolting technology, or precision torquing (preferred)
• Relevant safety certifications including H2S awareness, confined space entry, and working at heights
• Equipment-specific certifications for hydraulic torquing systems (Enerpac, Hydratight, or equivalent)

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, piping isometrics, and torque procedure sheets
• Strong mathematical skills for calculating torque values, friction factors, and bolt stress calculations
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and ultrasonic bolt elongation devices
• Knowledge of material properties and their impact on torquing procedures (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy materials)
• Understanding of corrosion prevention methods and proper lubrication techniques for bolted connections

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This Torquing Technician position operates in challenging industrial environments typical of the Oil & Gas sector. Candidates must be prepared to work in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, elevated work platforms, and confined spaces. The role requires:

• Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment (up to 25 kg) with proper lifting techniques
