Transmission Engineer Responsibilities

As a Transmission Engineer at our automotive engineering facility in Whitefield, you will be entrusted with critical functions related to drivetrain systems and transmission technology:

• Design and develop transmission systems for electric vehicles (EV) and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) from concept to production
• Conduct detailed analysis of transmission performance, including efficiency, durability, and NVH characteristics
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of transmission components using CAD software
• Perform calculations for gear ratios, bearing selections, shaft designs, and lubrication systems
• Develop test plans and procedures for transmission validation and verification
• Troubleshoot and resolve transmission-related issues during prototype and production phases
• Support vehicle integration activities and ensure transmission systems meet all performance requirements
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in automotive transmission systems, particularly for electric vehicles
• Document design processes, analysis results, and test findings in comprehensive technical reports
• Collaborate with suppliers to source components and ensure quality standards are met
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to junior engineers

Transmission Engineer Requirements

Education & Qualifications

• Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field
• Advanced degrees or certifications in transmission engineering are highly desirable

Experience & Technical Skills

• 5-10 years of professional experience in transmission design and development
• Proven expertise in EV/UGV transmission systems and electric drivetrain technology
• Strong knowledge of gear systems, differentials, clutches, and torque converters
• Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) for mechanical design
• Experience with simulation tools for transmission analysis (e.g., ROMAX, MASTA, or similar)
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for transmission components (casting, machining, forging)
• Understanding of automotive standards and certification requirements
• Experience with prototype development and testing methodologies

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of hybrid transmission systems and power split devices
• Familiarity with control systems for automatic transmissions
• Experience with materials selection for high-stress automotive applications
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics and how transmission systems impact overall performance
