Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Welding Coordinator with our organization, you will be entrusted with comprehensive oversight of all welding operations within our Oil & Gas Construction projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to project success, safety compliance, and quality assurance.

Welding Process Management

• Develop, implement, and maintain welding procedures specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR)
• Oversee all welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards
• Coordinate with engineering teams to review design drawings and identify welding requirements
• Manage welding documentation, including welder qualifications, material certifications, and inspection records
• Monitor welding parameters and techniques to ensure optimal quality and efficiency

Quality Assurance & Control

• Implement and enforce quality control measures throughout the welding process
• Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies to arrange necessary tests and evaluations
• Conduct regular audits of welding operations to identify areas for improvement
• Investigate welding defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Maintain comprehensive records of all quality control activities and non-conformance reports

Team Coordination & Supervision

• Supervise and provide technical guidance to welding teams and fabricators
• Coordinate with project managers to establish welding schedules and resource allocation
• Conduct training sessions for welding personnel on procedures, techniques, and safety protocols
• Liaise between welding teams, engineering departments, and client representatives
• Manage welding equipment inventory and coordinate maintenance activities

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Ensure all welding activities comply with HSE regulations and company policies
• Conduct risk assessments for welding operations and implement appropriate controls
• Promote and enforce safe working practices within the welding department
• Investigate welding-related incidents and implement preventive measures
• Stay updated on industry safety standards and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification

• Graduation/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or related field
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification preferred
• Additional certifications in NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT) are highly desirable
• Formal training in welding procedures and quality management systems

Experience & Technical Skills

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Welding Coordinator in Oil & Gas Construction
• Comprehensive knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, ISO)
• Proven experience in developing WPS/PQR and welder qualification tests
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, weldability of materials, and heat treatment processes
• Experience with welding quality control and non-destructive testing methods
• Proficiency in welding documentation and reporting systems
